Jewish Catalunya
Jews have lived for centuries in Catalunya. The peak of Jewish development took place in Gerona, the city of the Ramba’n (Nahmanides in Spanish, or Rabbi Moshe Ben Nahman in Hebrew). But Catalunya is not just the Middle Age. It’s also the story of the “persecuted and survivors”, who in WW II crossed the border between France and Spain in their quest for a safe haven…
Besalú – The medieval mikveh (ritual bath).
Portbou – The Walter Benjamin Memorial, created by Israeli artist Dani Caravan.
Aigüestortes Sanctuary – A nature reserve of approximately 400 lakes.
The freedom trails of the Pyrenees – The escape route from France to Spain during WW II.
Figueres – Dali Museum.
Our tour in Catalunya begins at the medieval cities, accompanied by musical shows, and onwards to the Pyrenees and the amazing nature reserves of the region, including a visit to the mountain passes of the persecuted in the High Pyrenees.
